Students for Cellphone-Free Driving (SCFD) was established in 2009 by University of Alberta medical students to raise awareness about the deadly habit of cellphone use while driving. Text messaging and conversations on hand-held or hands-free cellphones behind the wheel are a lethal distraction. Medical students have accepted the challenge of spreading the word about the consequences of multitasking while driving to Alberta’s youth.
Thanks to generous support from ConocoPhillips Canada, cutting edge curriculum has been developed to target high school students. We are now offering hour-long, interactive presentations to CALM teachers in Edmonton and surrounding areas. Stay tuned for information on new Students for Cellphone-Free Driving Chapters near you!
If you would like a presentation, but are not currently in an area where presentations are offered, we offer FREE electronic copies and reasonably priced hard copies of our Teacher Presentation Manual. This manual includes everything you need to inform yourself on the topic of cellphone use while driving and deliver a presentation yourself.
To request more information, book a presentation, or obtain a copy of our Teacher Presentation Manual, please email us at students@cellphonefreedriving.ca.
